While most people are focusing on Ragland and Smith to be this years top linebacker prospects, Kentrell Brothers has quietly made a name for himself. Brothers is 6’1″ 238 pounds and has run the 40 yard dash in the 4.8s. Kentrell is the star of Missouri’s 9th ranked defense. He has been labeled as a tackle machine producing over 120 plus tackles in each of the last two seasons. This year he amassed 152 tackles 2.5 sacks and 2 INTs in the SEC conference.
One of Brothers’ strengths is his durability, he has not missed a game in the last two seasons. In last years SEC championship game vs. Alabama, Brothers had 14 tackles. He has continued to impress this year. The game vs. Arkansas St. he had 16 tackles and 2 INTs. Take a look at him making plays all over the field.
In the Mississippi St. game this year, Brothers had 14 tackles and helped force 2 turnovers. He was easily the best player on the field for the Tigers. That game really helped get the Brothers draft train rolling because there were a lot of scouts there to watch big name QB Dak Prescott.
He has great awareness and as sure a tackler as they come. In college he was an every down LB but I am not sure that can hold up in the NFL. He isn’t the fastest LB sideline to sideline. Brothers has trouble taking on blockers and shedding, but if he has a shot at the offensive player he will make the tackle. He may need to gain a few more pounds to play regularly in the NFL because he doesn’t have quite the speed to play in a Tampa 2 scheme, but doesn’t have the anchor skills to stake on and shed blockers.
Brothers has accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl and he will get to showcase his talent for a whole week down in Mobile, Alabama.
