Charles Clay’s Big Day
In the first meeting between the Dolphins and the Bills, offensive coordinator Greg Roman took advantage of the emotions Charles Clay was feeling during his first trip back to Miami. Clay was the focal point of the Bills first offensive drive. He had 3 catches for 58 yds and capitalized by getting in the end zone. Clay finished the day with 5 catches for 82 yds and 1 TD and I’m sure with a huge smile. Lets examine how Clay got so wide open on this particular play:

The Bills ended up going on to win the game 41-14 and it was probably the most dominant and complete game game that they have played. Roman game planned and called a phenomenal game versus a very talented defense. On this play he utilized all of his weapons; he used the favorable down and distance to run a play fake to Shady Mccoy. He got Taylor outside the pocket with an easy half field read. He used Sammy to clear the zone, and Harvin to occupy the flats defender. Finally, he got Clay wide open on a deep crossing route for a completion of 24 yards. Things look really pretty when the film study, studying of tendencies, play call and execution all come together. Can the Bills execute as smoothly this weekend? We shall see!!! Go Bills!!!
