Should the Bills target him?
Emmanuel Ogbah might be the next Nigerian nightmare, this time on the defensive side of the ball. Born in Nigeria with the middle name Ikechukwu, meaning “God’s power”, Ogbah came to America at age 9. The Junior has the size scouts want to see, he is 6’4″, 275 pounds.
As a sophomore in 2014, Emmanuel had 50 tackles, 13 for a loss, 10 sacks, 5 pass deflections and 2 forced fumbles. After a good sophomore season eyes were on Ogbah to see if he could improve. Emmanuel finished his junior year with 64 tackles, 16.5 for a loss, 12.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles according to Real Football Network (RFN). His sack numbers put him 3rd overall in the nation. He received Big 12 defensive player of the year ranking first in sacks, second in tackles for loss and third in forced fumbles. He recorded a sack in 11 out of 13 games this past season. Eight of his sacks were recorded on first or second down which shows that he was quick to read pass and react to the offensive play-call.
He was a nightmare for opposing offenses throughout the season. He wasn’t just terrorizing the QB by sacking them, but he was completely throwing off the timing of the offense. According to the RFN, he led the nation in total pressures with 67 (QB knockdowns+Hurries). Some of his more complete games were against ranked competition.
He put together a great season and when you put the film on you can see why.
He is a guy that the Bills could target because he is strong and shows enough versatility to play any position along the defensive line. He was a player that opposing offensive coordinators always had to account for. He was doubled teamed quite often but was able to still put up some gawdy stats. He is predicted to go in the mid to late 1st round.
Do you think he is worthy of being drafted by the Bills at 19th overall?
