Mel Kiper Jr. has released his latest mock draft and I thank god that it doesn’t count. In his latest mock, he has the Bills choosing Defensive Lineman Robert Nkemdiche from Ole Miss. If there is one player that I wouldn’t draft in the first two days it would be this talented player.
Nkemdiche had an average 2015 season, according to Real Football Network (RFN) he compiled 28 tackles, 3 sacks, 26 total pressures and 29 run disruptions all while only playing only 55% of the Rebels’ snaps. His three sacks were versus non-top 50 teams in 2015. He is a flash in the pan type player who disappears for drives at a time. None of his statistics broke the top 50 in the nation in 2015, in fact when you compare his stats to players in this draft he still doesn’t break the top 50.
Robert has had too many off the field issues for me to stomach. He has also shown a lack of discipline on the field so I am totally against the Bills drafting this guy. I believe his shoddy technique and inability to execute his assignments are reasons alone for me not to draft him. There is too much talent at his position in this draft to take a chance on a player with questionable character.
As Nkemdiche explained that he was only “drunk” and not under the influence of marijuana when he fell out of a fourth-story hotel window, he casually mentioned that “Laremy (Tunsil)” was there. Of course, Nkemdiche was arrested for possession of marijuana, which he denied using. -ProFootballTalk
Here is Mel’s take:
19. Buffalo Bills
*Robert Nkemdiche, DL, Ole Miss
A special talent and incredible athlete at his size, Nkemdiche could play a big part in getting Rex (and Rob) Ryan’s defense back to where it should be after an awful 2015. He’s a character risk, but a top-five talent.
Free-agency effect: Buffalo is freeing up some cap money, but the Bills will have a tough time outbidding people for top talent. I wouldn’t expect free agency to alter draft plans.
So would you draft him?
