Sean McDermott’s Defensive Philosophy | Gap Integrity

Some extra footage from my video library

Sean McDermott has preached attention to detail from day one and when you watch his prior defenses you can see why. The one gap, 4-3 defense is much simpler than Rex Ryan’s 3-4 defense but it is only successful if guys trust the system and maintain their discipline. That includes their gap integrity versus the run. Gap integrity shut down this run play by the Saints.

One guy that is going to flourish back in the even front is LB Preston Brown. I have a feeling that he is going to have a breakout season, which says a lot because he has been one of the most productive linebackers in the NFL since entering the league.

Even Milano and Hodges have been able to play downhill and fill their run gaps.
