As the month progresses, we get closer to having at least somewhat of a full slate of college football games. The good thing is, for some, college football hasn’t missed a beat. Featuring upsets of Iowa State, Kansas and Kansas State, Week 1 or 2 or whatever it’s going to be called, showcased the artistry of the thrills and agony college football consistently and proudly presents each season.

Highlighting upsets brings attention to names that needed more of a spotlight or never even had one. In Arkansas State’s 35-31 victory over Kansas State, 6-foot-3, 220-pound receiver Jonathan Adams had many spectators in awe. The senior reeled in eight catches for 98 yards with three touchdowns.

Despite not coming in an upset, attention can still be yearned with mid-tier opponents matching up with Power 5 foes. Take Western Kentucky defensive end DeAngelo Malone for example. Malone’s (6-4, 230) presence was on display against the Louisville offensive line as the senior finished the day with eight tackles, three for loss, a sack and a forced fumble.

Not only did the mid-tier conference players stand out but the expected prospects also did. Asante Samuel Jr. of Florida State proved his worth with two interceptions, returning one for 38 yards. Clemson WR1 Amari Rodgers flashed his potential with five catches for 90 yards. Travis Etienne rushed 17 times for 102 yards and a touchdown for the Tigers.

Exceeding expectations or matching them, we are just scratching the surface with the list of 2021 NFL Draft prospects. With the latest from the desk of the Big Ten, a few high-profile prospects that once opted out of the 2020 season, have reconsidered and look to pursue playing one final season for their respective schools. Ohio State prospects Wyatt Davis and Shaun Wade have opted back in, and Minnesota junior receiver Rashod Bateman is highly considering returning to Minneapolis.

Before college football spearheads into the pinnacle of conference season – next weekend – there are still plenty of prospects to highlight in non-conference matchups in the third weekend of September.

Provided is a list of 2021 NFL Draft prospects to highlight on Saturday.
