The Buffalo Bills finished the 2022 season with a 13-3 mark, a third straight division title, and in the divisional round of the playoffs. I admit that not making it to at least the AFC Championship game was a disappointment for me as a content creator, so I know it was a massive bummer for you, the fans. As we finish this journey through the Top 10 Most Important Players of 2022, I wanted to quickly dive into some positives because the stats were still pretty darn fantastic.
The Bills’ offense was one of the best in 2022 regardless of what metric you used. They finished second in yards per game at 397.6 and points per game at 28.4. The passing attack was also prolific, racking up 258.1 yards per game which were seventh-best in the league. Football Outsider’s DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average) ranked Buffalo’s offense second overall and second in passing. The Bills were seventh in PFF’s (Pro Football Focus) overall grade at 86.6, and the 84.1 grade in passing was good enough for third. As for defense, the unit finished second in Football Outsider’s DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average) passing mark with a 36.5% score. As a whole, the Bills’ defense allowed the sixth-fewest yards per game at 319.1 and the second-fewest points per game at just 17.9. Both sides of the ball were inside the top 10 in almost all meaningful counting stats and analytics.

Gabe Davis: The Bills No. 2 wide receiver was a series of boom or bust plays in 2022, but the highs were half-baked high. Just look at his performance against the Steelers where he hauled in three receptions for 171 yards and three touchdowns. On the other side, he had an 11.1 drop percentage, and it felt like most were in key moments. “Gabe Davis is a guy that needed to be more consistent, but I put him at five because when he was at his best, the offense was at its best, and they are explosive. When Gabe had a good game, the Bills had a great chance at winning.” @AjayCyulski
Devin Singletary: The Bills’ feature back for most of the season was #11 on the list, needing just one more vote to have tied for 10th. Motor finished in second for his career in most counting stats with 177 carries for 819 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. He added 280 more yards and another touchdown through the air in 2022. Singletary not making the top 10 might be another sign that he is underappreciated, but our money man @LowBuffa capitalized on those thoughts all year “this last slot could have easily gone to guys like Groot or Tyler Bass, but Motor won me a lot of money because Vegas underappreciated his role in the offense throughout the season.”
