Cover 1’s Week In Review

This is the first installment of a new weekly feature here at Cover 1. We’ll take a look back at the top moments of the previous week through the words and sounds of our staff, including samplings from Erik Turner, Nate Geary and Kevin Massare.

Of course, the biggest news of this past week were the two blockbuster trades the Bills completed on Friday. Those trades have reshaped Buffalo’s roster and changed the way most are now looking at the 2017 season. On Sunday, Nate and Erik discussed the Buffalo’s newest acquisitions– E.J. Gaines and Jordan Matthews.

A few days after those trades came the most interesting and fiery practice of the summer at training camp. There were various skirmishes, involving the likes of Tyrod Taylor, Jerry Hughes, Jordan Mills and Shaq Lawson. The play from the first team offense and defense wasn’t much better than the fighting, and it led to Sean McDermott bringing his entire team in for a group meeting in the middle of the field. Our friends at The Rockpile Report summarized the events of the day and some potential long-term impacts.

The Bills top rated cornerback in their first preseason game was…Greg Mabin. Erik did an entire scouting profile of Mabin before camp started and revisited it this week after his strong performance against Minnesota.

There were many breakout stars and strong performers from the Bills this summer, and Kevin and Nate broke them down to hand out their training camp awards.
