The NFL free agent tampering period got off to a hot start today with some major moves rocking the NFL landscape in the midst of all the already-chaotic outside world. There were blockbuster trades, mind-boggling trades, and some major re-signings that took place as teams tried their best to orchestrate business as usual and build up their rosters in preparation for the 2020 season.
Here’s a rundown of how things went down on the first day:
The Texans sent DeAndre Hopkins and a 4th round pick to the Cardinals for RB David Johnson, a 2nd round pick, and a 2021 4th round pick. That’s it; there isn’t a punchline.

Tampa Bay gets DE Jason Pierre Paul re-signed to a 2-year, $27M deal.

The Colts and 49ers made a big trade, with the Colts sending their 13th overall pick to the 49ers for All-Pro DT DeForest Buckner. Buckner and the Colts had agreed on a new deal for 5 years worth $21M per year.

The Falcons and the Ravens worked a trade to send Hayden Hurst and a 4th rounder to Atlanta in exchange for the Falcons’ 2nd and 5th round picks.

Additionally, the Ravens had already traded their 5th round pick to the Jaguars for Calais Campbell.
